Dyslexia Friendly Study Skills
This course is suitable those who teach dyslexic young
people and adults.
Most learners over the age of 14 years have adopted their own coping
strategies.
This course will give you the tools to harness their strengths by
teaching strategies to boost their ability to acquire learning,
retain it, review it and recall it on command.
The course covers:
• What is dyslexia?
• How it affects the learner
• Learning styles
• Metacognition - thinking about thinking.
• Improving memory
• Study skills.
A Whole School Approach to Dyslexia
This training is designed to help you create dyslexia friendly policies
and practice in the school place to help all dyslexic children in
your school.
Parent Partnerships
This training will help you establish good relationships
with parents of dyslexic children.
The course covers how to explain to parents how their child’s
dyslexia affects them, how they can best support their child, how
to validate the interventions that you have put in place for their
child and manage parents expectations.
Full day training on Screening for Dyslexia
This training course is designed to help you decide which is the
best screening product for your school.
It demonstrates the difference between three of the best products
on the market highlighting the pros and cons of each.
It also gives you the opportunity to try these products out and
how to understand the test results.
Full day training on Lucid-Research
LASS Junior or LASS Secondary software
This training course is a step-by-step guide in using this
screening tool from setting it up on the computer to interpreting
the results and writing and Individual Education Plan for the child.
This training also includes hints and tips on managing the expectations
of the child’s parents/guardian.
Half day Workshop for Parents of Dyslexic Children
This workshop is to help parents understand their child’s
dyslexia, how they can give appropriate support at home and what
they can expect from their child’s school.
This workshop is usually organised by schools but if parents would
like this training for a small group it can be arranged.

The course is designed to help you understand what dyslexia is,
what reasonable adjustments are, where you can find funding and
how to support the dyslexic employee.

Disability Discrimination Act 1995
How to stay within the law.
This workshop is designed to help all employers of dyslexic people
to be more dyslexia friendly and ensure that they are utilising
best practice.
It will ensure that you understand what dyslexia is, how to identify
and implement reasonable adjustments, and how to ensure that you
are acting within the law.
Assistive Technology Micro Conference
This is an interactive session for employers and employees to see
what products are available, how they can help overcome barriers
in the workplace, how compatible they are with existing systems,
how they can be implemented across a networked server or stand-alone
PC’s.
This is your chance to try before you buy!
This is a half day or lunchtime session and suitable for all disabilities
not just dyslexia.
